SPATIAL STRATEGIES ON THE ISLAND OF IRELAND - FRAMEWORK FOR COLLABORATION
We are seeking your views on a Framework for Collaboration Document entitled “Spatial Strategies on the Island of Ireland”. The consultation will start on Tuesday 15 February and end on Monday 11 April. The consultation document has been prepared jointly with the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government in the South.
The document examines the key planning challenges faced by both parts of the Island and discusses the potential for collaboration in spatial planning. It sets out a framework for collaboration at different levels within the public sector which should result in mutual benefits.
The Framework is a non-statutory approach to providing advice and guidance at relevant spatial or geographical scales. The Framework has been screened for equality of opportunity implications and has been screened out for equality impact assessment.
The Department welcomes your contribution to the consultation process. The consultation document can be viewed or downloaded by clicking on the link below.

Five Year Review of the Regional Development Strategy (Shaping our Future)
Shaping Our Future, is a Regional Development Strategy which offers a strategic and long-term perspective on the future development of Northern Ireland up to the year 2025.
In June 2008 the Department for Regional Development, following public consultation, published the first five year review of the Regional Development Strategy.
The publication consists of two documents. The adjustments to the Strategy are detailed in the document entitled 'Adjustments to the Regional Development Strategy (RDS) – 2025'
(3MB).
The second is a supporting document entitled ‘First 5-Year Review Report of the Process, Key Findings and Planned Actions’
(2MB) which sets out the procedure followed in the Review, outcome of the consultation exercise, relevant supporting information and projects as a lead-in to the 2010 Review.
The Adjustments Document is now part of the RDS and should be read in conjunction with the existing Strategy document.

“It is only right that islanders receive access to public services that the rest of us often take for granted and the Executives policy will seek to improve the conditions of all people on the island while also protecting its natural and cultural heritage."
