Strabane Bypass
Stage II of the A5 Strabane Bypass, will cost approximately £4.2 million and take around 15 months to complete.
It will provide a new 2.6 kilometre single carriageway road, connecting the existing Stage 1 at Bradley Way, to join the Dublin Road, south of the Fir Trees Hotel. New roundabout junctions will be provided where the Bypass joins the existing road network at the above points. The new road will follow the line of the disused railway.
There will also be a traffic signal controlled junction at Urney Road and priority junctions at Strahan's Road and Orchard Road. The section of Strahan's Road to the east of the new road will be stopped-up to vehicular traffic with only a pedestrian access being maintained.
Pedestrian and cycle paths will also be prov ided on both sides of the new road.
The contract for the scheme was awarded to Deane Public Works Ltd of Killadeas.
