The differential acceleration lane widened the A26 Newbridge Road to create an overtaking opportunity for northwest bound traffic departing the Portrush Road Roundabout. The online improvement symmetrically widened the existing road to 12 metres and is marked as two lanes (3.2 metre wide nearside lane and 3.4 metre wide overtaking lane) towards Coleraine and one lane (3.4 metres wide) towards the roundabout, with opposing traffic streams separated by a double white line system. The running carriageway is flanked either side by 1 metre wide edge strips. The DAL terminated before the existing Seacon Road ghost island junction. Two new 25 metre long by 3.5 metre wide lanes increased the capacity of the approach to the Portrush Road Roundabout.

The online improvement symmetrically widened the existing road to 12 metres and is marked as two lanes (3.2 metre wide nearside lane and 3.4 metre wide overtaking lane) towards Ballymena and one lane (3.4 metres wide) towards the roundabout, with opposing traffic streams separated by a double white line system. The running carriageway is flanked either side by 1 metre wide edge strips. The DAL terminated before a new ghost island junction provided to promote safe right turns into the Greenhill Road. Two new 30 metre long by 3.5 metre wide lanes increased the capacity of the approach to the Portrush Road Roundabout.
