The online improvement symmetrically widened the existing road to 12 metres and is marked as two lanes (3.2 metre wide nearside lane and 3.4 metre wide overtaking lane)  towards Coleraine and one lane (3.4 metres wide) towards the roundabout, with opposing traffic streams separated by a double white line system. The running carriageway is flanked either side by 1 metre wide edge strips. The DAL terminated before the existing Seacon Road ghost island junction.
