The differential acceleration lane widened the A26 Tully Road to create an overtaking opportunity for northwest bound traffic departing the Nutts Corner Roundabout. The online improvement symmetrically widened the existing road to 12 metres and is marked as two lanes (3.2 metre wide nearside lane and 3.4 metre wide overtaking lane) towards Antrim and one lane (3.4 metres wide) towards the roundabout, with opposing traffic streams separated by a double white line system. The running carriageway is flanked either side by 1 metre wide edge strips. A ghost island was included to promote safe right turns into a goods distribution depot. Two new 60 metre long by 3.5 metre wide lanes increased the capacity of the approach to the Nutts Corner Roundabout.
