Scheme signboard

Overall Length:0.82 kilometres
Overtaking Lenght:                   0.64 kilometres
Cost:£0.3 million
Type:Differential Acceleration Lane
Contract:Traditional Consultant Design Contractor Build

The differential acceleration lane widened the A29 Dunhill Road to create an overtaking opportunity for west bound traffic departing the Greenmount Roundabout. The online improvement symmetrically widened the existing road to 12 metres and is marked as two lanes (3.2 metre wide nearside lane and 3.4 metre wide overtaking lane) uphill towards Limavady and one lane (3.4 metres wide) downhill towards Coleraine, with opposing traffic lanes separated by a double white line system. The running carriageway is flanked either side by 1 metre wide edge strips. A ghost island was included to promote safe right turns into Greenmount Road close to the Greenmount Roundabout.
