M2 Junction 7 Crosskennan Slip Roads - About the Scheme

Location on Northwestern Key Transport Corridor

Location on Northwestern Key Transport Corridor

The scheme will provide an all movements junction between the M2 motorway and the local road network beside the Antrim Area Hospital. The junction will be a 'dumbbell roundabout' layout, a roundabout either side of the motorway connected by the existing Crosskennan bridge over the motorway.

The existing roundabout at the hospital entrance will be enlarged and will link to:

  • The existing northbound motorway off-slip;
  • The hospital access road;
  • Bush Road south towards Antrim;
  • The new northbound motorway on-slip; and
  • The existing bridge over the motorway.

A new roundabout will be constructed north of the motorway and will link to:

  • The existing southbound motorway off-slip;
  • Niblock Road north to Kells;
  • Glenmullion Road;
  • The new southbound motorway on-slip; and
  • The existing bridge over the motorway.
