Cairnshill Park & Ride

Cairnshill Park & Ride provides over 700 free car parking spaces along with a terminal building on the A24, Saintfield Road at its junction with Purdysburn Road. It is open from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm Monday to Friday. Access is via two locations on the Purdysburn Road and by a new signalised junction on the Saintfield Road. The site is served by a dedicated bus service operating to and from the city centre every fifteen minutes. Customers may also use passing services using the stops on the Saintfield Road. The terminal building is equipped with waiting room, toilets and baby changing facilities. The site has CCTV monitoring and a permanent security guard.
Inside the Terminal building, cold drinks and snack vending machines

Journey times of between 15 minutes [off peak] and 25 minutes [peak] can normally be guaranteed due to the introduction of intensive bus priority measures along the Saintfield Road and Ormeau Road. This represents a typical journey time saving of up to 20 minutes over a comparable journey by car.

Cairnshill is also a park and share site, so you can meet up with your lift-share companions, park for free and continue on your journey.
Cairnshill Park and Ride is an important element of the Department's commitment to promote more sustainable travel, by offering commuters on this corridor an attractive alternative to using the private car for their journey into the city centre.
The Cairnshill Park and Ride scheme cost £7.9M and was completed in July 2010. Bus services operated by Translink commenced in November 2010. You can download further information including the bus timetable and location map from the Translink website www.translink.co.uk
