The Northern Ireland Concessionary Fares Scheme was established to promote accessible public transport for members of the community who are most vulnerable, through discounted fares. The Scheme provides the following concessions:

Free Travel

• Registered Blind SmartPass
• Senior Citizen SmartPass
• 60+ Smart Pass
• War Disablement SmartPass

All Ireland Free Travel Scheme for Older People

Since 2nd April 2007, Senior Citizens have been eligible for free fares on public transport throughout the island of Ireland. Northern Ireland senior citizens aged 65+ are eligible for free travel. In the Republic of Ireland, senior citizens are eligible for the concession when they turn 66. Free travel can only be availed of by using a free travel SmartPass.
