The Accessible Transport Strategy Action Plan 2007-2009
The Department for Regional Development published the Accessible Transport Strategy (ATS) in 2005.
The ATS has the vision: "To have an accessible transport system that enables older people and people with disabilities to participate more fully in society, enjoy greater independence and expereience a better quality of life."
The ATS sought to achieve this vision through a series of measures contained in a 2-year Action Plan. The Department is now reviewing this Action Plan and has prepared a new draft Action Plan for 2007-2009.
The draft ATS Action Plan 2007-2009 contains initial findings on the impact of the ATS, a draft Action Plan for 2007-2009, and a review of achievements to date.
It is import that we hear your views. We have prepared a questionnaire to help you with your comments.
We would appreciate your response by Friday 4 January 2008.

Travel Safe - a guide about community safety for people with learning disabilities.
One of the things the ATS said we can do is help people with learning disabilities travel more by themselves.
We have now published a guide for people with learning disabilities.
We found out everything we could about travelling safely. We read other guides, we looked things up on the internet, we talked to the police and to road safety officers. We talked to lots of people with learning disabilities about what they felt people needed to know. When we had done all that, we put all the information together in this book. To help make this book easy to understand, we took pictures of the things you will see when you are travelling in Northern Ireland.
We hope that this book helps you to get out and about and travel safe.
Because of all the pictures, we have split the document into sections to make it easier to download.
