Background
Married with three children. Educated at Newry High School. Was an employee of British Telecom for 20 years before being elected to the Assembly.
Member of the Ulster Unionist Party since 1974 and has served at all levels of the Party, both locally and within the wider Party organisation. Also served on the Committee of the Centre, established to examine and report on the wide range of functions carried out in the Office of the First Minister and the Deputy First Minister and on any other related matters determined by the Assembly.
The Bessbrook man is a member of the Newry and Mourne Local Strategy Partnership Board and previously served on the Northern Ireland Tourist Board before being elected to represent the area in the Assembly.
Currently a director of Bessbrook Development Company, Mr. Kennedy is also Clerk of Session and Sunday School Superintendent at Bessbrook Presbyterian Church. He is a member of the Boards of Governors of Bessbrook Primary School and Newry High School.
Mr Kennedy has a deep interest in matters of Law and Order and Security and he serves on Newry and Mourne District Policing Partnership Board.
