Lian Patterson - Deputy Secretary

Senior Finance Director Resources & Management Services

Lian as Deputy Secretary within the Core of the Department for Regional Development is responsible for the main Personnel and Finance functions and also oversees Central Policy and Management, Internal Audit, Central Claims and the Water Reform Unit.

Barry Jordan

Director - Human Resources and Organisational Change

Barry is the Director of Human Resources and Organisational Change within the Department for Regional Development. His Division oversees the delivery of a full range of personnel services to the Department's non-industrial staff and provides an advisory and co-ordination service in respect of the industrial workforce.

Role of Human Resources and Organisational Change

The role of Human Resources and Organisational Change is to operate effective human resource management policies and practices which will assist the Department's various business areas to achieve their own objectives.

Nigel McCormick

Finance Director

Nigel is the Director of Finance within the Department for Regional Development.

Finance Division has 5 Key Objectives:

to optimise the financial resources available to the Department in achieving it’s strategic goals and delivering value for money and efficiency for the tax-payer;
to provide accurate timely and relevant financial analyses and information to support effective decision making within the Department;
to co-ordinate strategic planning within the Department for the Programme for Government/Secretary of State’s Priorities and Plans, Public Service Agreement, Service Delivery Agreement and Business Plans;
to deliver the Department’s statutory external financial reporting outputs and maintain processes which deliver compliance with Government Accounting regulations and other legislative requirements; and
to recruit, retain and develop a highly skilled, efficient, flexible team who are committed to a continuous improvement and to providing both proactive and responsive services which meet the needs of the Department.

Stephen Murphy

Head of Central Claims Unit

Stephen is the Solicitor / Head of Central Claims Unit within the Department of Regional Development.

Role of Central Claims Unit

Central Claims Unit processes, as efficiently and fairly as possible, all public and employer's liability compensation claims lodged against the Department and it's Agencies.

Brendan Devlin

Head of North South, Equality, Policy Co-ordination Directorate

Brendan is the head of the North South, Equality, Policy Co-ordination Directorate within the Department for Regional Development.

Role of North South, Equality, Policy Co-ordination Directorate

The North South, Equality, Policy Co-ordination Directorate is part of the core Department and its head reports directly to the Deputy Secretary (Resources). The directorate provides a number of key corporate services to the Department and its agencies, including a range of co-ordination and communication support activities for the Minister and Permanent Secretary. It also has the responsibility to co-ordinate and drive forward the changes needed to implement the Department’s obligations under Freedom of Information (FOI) and implementation of the Electronic Document and Record Management System (EDRMS).

Linda is the Head of Internal Audit within the Department for Regional Development.
