The RDS is the spatial plan for Northern Ireland and CSRB input includes the development and provision of statistical indicators to monitor the strategy, statistical profiling of spatial regions, collection of data on new houses and the production of an estimate of housing need in Northern Ireland. TransportProvide statistical and research support to Roads Service and Ports and Public Transport Division in the formulation, delivery and monitoring of transport policy. Planning ServiceProvide statistical and research support and advice to DOE Planning Service. This includes advice on the new system for managing planning applications, data queries, the production of new statistical publications and Development Plans. This involves assistance in monitoring progress towards the targets set out in the Northern Ireland Road Safety Strategy 2002-2012 and reviewing the strategy as required. CSRB also monitor and evaluate Courses for Drink Drive Offenders. Provide professional statistical and research support to the School Bus Inquiry, the Northern Ireland Taxi review and Road Safety Education in schools. Co-ordinate and publish the annual Seat Belt Survey and Road Safety Monitor and associated statistical bulletins. Calculate annual seat belt casualty saving estimates for NI. Survey ControlProvide advice to policy colleagues on conducting surveys. Gather details of all surveys of businesses or district councils carried out by DRD and DOE in the previous year and those planned over the next three years in order to compile a DOE/ DRD Compliance and Quality Improvement Plan. Provide information to Survey Control Unit when requested on these surveys. Provide advice and a quality assurance function for the carrying out of surveys, such as waste arising surveys. Provide regular environmental input into a number of statistical publications. Sustainable DevelopmentThe Sustainable Development Strategy for NI was launched in May 2006 and is led by OFMDFM. CSRB provides statistical and research support to DOE in the implementation of the Strategy. This involves providing advice on data, indicators and ecological footprinting. Equality Impact Assessments (EQIAs)Provide statistical and research advice and support to DRD and DOE policy colleagues involved in the Equality Impact Assessment process. This covers the screening stage, full assessment if the screening stage identifies possible differential impacts and monitoring.
