SPATIAL STRATEGIES ON THE ISLAND OF IRELAND - FRAMEWORK FOR COLLABORATION
The Department sought views on a draft Framework for Collaboration Document entitled "Spatial Strategies on the Island of Ireland". This consultation started on Tuesday 15 February and ended on Monday 11 April 2011. The consultation document has been prepared jointly with the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government in the Republic of Ireland.
The document examines the key planning challenges faced by both parts of the Island and discusses the potential for collaboration in spatial planning. It sets out a framework for collaboration at different levels within the public sector which should result in mutual benefits.
The Framework is a non-statutory approach to providing advice and guidance at relevant spatial or geographical scales. The Framework has been screened for equality of opportunity implications and has been screened out for equality impact assessment.
The Department has reviewed the consultations recieved and has liaised with the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government in the Republic of Ireland and is now preparing a final Framework for Collaboration.
